There are several types of medical coverage available in the State of Washington. Please select from the options below depending upon your specific needs. Major Medical (Including HSAs) - Major Medical coverage for individuals falls into two major categories, comprehensive plans and catastrophic plans. Comprehensive programs generally include coverage for preventive care, maternity and prescription drugs. Catastrophic programs have higher deductibles and generally do not cover preventive care, maternity or drugs. Major Medical plans provide greater flexibility then do other options and are a good choice if there is a possibility you may need the coverage for more than 12 months or if you need coverage for pre-existing conditions. Health Savings Account (HSA) programs are high deductible programs that allow insureds to fund tax free savings accounts that can be used to pay for various healthcare expenses. HSAs are generally attractive to self-employed individuals and small companies. Short-Term Medical - Short-term medical coverage can be a good option for individuals who are between jobs or who need coverage during a new employer’s probationary period. These programs do not require the completion of a health questionnaire but they also do not cover pre-existing conditions and the maximum coverage period is usually 6 months. Student Medical - These programs are available to full-time college students and are very reasonably priced Travel Medical - Several different travel medical policies are available depending upon your age, citizenship, duration of coverage and place of travel.
